Create ICO files in your browser

Create ICO files from an image or emoji-style icon design.

How to create an ICO file

  1. Choose an image or create a simple emoji icon.
  2. Select the icon sizes to include.
  3. Download the generated ICO or PNG file.

Turn a PNG or JPG into a Windows icon

Start with a browser-readable image and select the sizes to include in the ICO. A square source works best because this converter draws the image into square canvases. Crop a rectangular logo first to avoid stretching. PNG is useful when the source needs transparent areas around the icon.

Include multiple sizes or convert several images

Choose from 16, 32, 48, 64, 128 and 256 pixels. Selected sizes are stored together inside each ICO file, rather than becoming separate PNG downloads. When you select several source images, the tool creates a separate ICO download for each image using the same size selection; it does not create a batch ZIP.

Make an emoji icon without uploading a design

The Emoji tab provides a starting symbol, background settings and shape options, with ICO and PNG downloads. Emoji appearance can differ between operating systems because the preview uses available emoji fonts. Both image conversion and emoji rendering happen in your browser; IMGIUM does not receive the selected image file.

ICO conversion questions

Can I include more than one icon size?

Yes. Choose the sizes you need before generating the ICO file.

Are images uploaded to a server?

No. ICO generation runs in your browser and selected images are not uploaded to IMGIUM's own servers.

Should I crop a rectangular image before making an ICO?

A square source avoids distortion because the converter stretches the source to each selected square size. Crop the image first if its proportions should stay unchanged.

Are multiple images downloaded as one ICO?

No. Each source image becomes its own ICO file. The multiple sizes within an ICO are versions of that source image, not different uploaded images.

Prepare an icon for a website

Crop the source if it needs a square composition. For website favicon previews, PNG sizes and an HTML link example, continue with the Favicon tool.
