PNG uses lossless compression and does not use a quality setting.

PNG Lossless quality and transparency; usually larger. JPG Small photo files; removes transparency. WebP Efficient web format with transparency. AVIF Very high compression; export depends on browser support. GIF 256 colors, no transparency here; exports one still frame. BMP Uncompressed, no transparency, and very large. SVG Embeds the pixels in SVG; does not vectorize the image. ICO One 256 px icon; use the ICO tool for multiple sizes. TIFF Lossless uncompressed RGBA; suited to archive workflows. Animated input and multi-image HEIC/HEIF use the first frame.

Convert image formats in your browser

Convert common and modern image formats, including HEIC and HEIF input, without installing software or uploading files.

How to convert an image

  1. Choose one or more supported images.
  2. Select an available output format.
  3. Adjust quality when available and download the converted image or ZIP.

Convert JPG to PNG, PNG to JPG or WebP

Choose a format for the way the image will be used. PNG can retain transparency, while JPG replaces transparent areas with a white background. WebP offers a quality setting and can keep transparency. Converting a JPG to PNG does not recover detail already lost in the original JPG.

Open HEIC photos and convert multiple files

HEIC and HEIF decoding happens locally using the bundled decoder. For a collection of images, switch to batch mode, select a common output format and download the successful results as a ZIP. Large photos and long batches depend on the memory available on your device; try smaller groups if a conversion fails.

Understand SVG, GIF and AVIF output

SVG export wraps a raster PNG inside an SVG file; it does not trace editable vector shapes. GIF output is a still image, so this is not an animation converter. AVIF export is available only when the browser passes the encoder check. Unsupported AVIF export stays disabled instead of silently saving another format.

Image conversion questions

Which output formats are available?

PNG, JPG, WebP, GIF, BMP, SVG, ICO, and TIFF are available. AVIF export is enabled when the browser provides an AVIF encoder.

Can I convert HEIC or HEIF photos?

Yes. HEIC and HEIF files are decoded locally in your browser before conversion.

Does JPG support transparency?

No. Transparent areas are flattened when exporting as JPG.

Are images uploaded to a server?

No. Selected images are processed in your browser and are not uploaded to IMGIUM's own servers.

Does SVG export create a vector image?

No. The exported SVG contains an embedded raster PNG. It does not turn pixels into editable paths or make a low-resolution image sharper.

Can I preserve an animated GIF?

No. This converter renders a still image and does not preserve an animation timeline. Use a dedicated animation tool when every frame must be retained.

Why is AVIF export disabled?

Your browser did not provide a working AVIF canvas encoder. Choose another available output format; being able to display AVIF does not necessarily mean the browser can encode it.

Adjust dimensions or file size before sharing

Conversion changes the file format. If the image is too wide, use Resize; if the dimensions are right but the file is too large, try Compress.
